Just finished a case study for Renishaw customer Mecanizados Escribano, Madrid. What an amazing company! Spain has suffered terribly in the recent recession, yet here’s a Spanish manufacturing company that’s busy 20hrs a day. Their secret? Technology! They’ve continued to invest in the best people and the best available technology and they’ve never been busier. This is a great success story and illustrates how Escribano has benefited from using Rensihaw technology.

Spent a week in Poland in January. Cold place but lovely, warm people. Went to see a great bike-component company called Soul-Kozak. Took some pictures, now writing a story for the Haas magazine.

OK, so it’s no secret that I’m into cycling. If you have a minute or two, watch the Trek video here
Look at how much effort the market leading bike company puts into content. At the end of the film, company President John Burke says, “What we have figured out is how to communicate with the people.”
That’s it in a nutshell!! It’s up to all companies how to figure out how to communicate with their people.

It’s all about the content! Take a look at Big Think. Another site similar in concept to TED, but still developing. The point is simple: Give people a compelling reason to come back to your website again and again. Big Think does it by offering entertaining and sometimes inspiring insights from well-know business and political personalities. We all crave information. We all want to be entertained. We all want to feel like we are part of a larger community of people just like us. So do your customers, so why not make your company and your website the place they come to?

This is very cool. American photographer Alexx Henry shot the front cover of the latest issue of Outside magazine using a Red One video camera, filming at 120 HD frames a second. One of those images ended up as the mag cover, but to see the rest of the video click here

This man works for gun maker Kimar, near Brescia, Italy. The region is well known for its long (long) tradition of gun making. In fact, world-famous Beretta is one of the oldest (some say ‘the’ oldest) incorporated company in the world. Founded: 1526!!

There’s nothing aviators love more than a good story and they usually begin along the lines..’So, there I was at 20,000ft…’ and typically include the storyteller laying claim to feats of flying prowess that Biggles would be proud of. I’m just back from visiting Aeroprakt, a Ukrainian company that builds ultralight aircraft and ships them to amateur fly-boys and girls all over the world. The company was started in the late 90’s by a couple of friends with a shared passion for high flight. Since then, they’ve built and sold more than 450 airplanes, enabling thousands of enthusiasts to live out their dreams and add quite a few more, far-fetched flying tales to the word-of-mouth archives.

Click here to see one we made earlier. It’s for a London-based company called Thinglab. They do all sorts of cool design things in 3D. We’re sending it to 200 magazines around the UK and Europe. We’re not exactly a PR company, but our case studies do the work for us. Magazine editors love them because they have everything they need to fill editorial space with a good quality story.

Currently writing about medical implants and athroplasty. Fascinating (but slightly gruesome) stuff!
Visited a medical device start-up in Germany that’s making parts and tool-kits for surgeons replacing knee and ankle joints. Not for the squeamish!
